BBL: Alba Berlin and FC Bayern start with victories in the BBL
Favorite victory at the start: Defending champion Alba Berlin and Bayern Munich started successfully in the playoffs of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
The main round winner from Berlin clearly won 114: 89 (61:45) on Friday evening in the first quarter-final game against Brose Bamberg and takes the lead 1-0 in the best-of-five series. Bavaria beat his "fear opponent" Niners Chemnitz clearly with 77:53 (36:31).
With 19 points, Johannes Thiemann was the best thrower of the Berliner. The second encounter with Bamberg will take place again on Sunday (6:00 p.m./Niners Chemnitz1, Magenta Niners Chemnitz and in the Niners Chemnitz live ticker) in Berlin.
"I'm happy about the victory," said Thiemann after the game in MagentaNiners Chemnitz: "It was an offensive game. We can defensively play that even more cleverly."
In Munich, game two will also continue on Sunday (8:30 p.m./Magenta Niners Chemnitz). Chemnitz had won both the two duels in the main round and in the trophy against Bayern.
Bonn fought for success
The Telekom Baskets Bonn, however, celebrated a hard -won opening win. Thanks to a last minute goal after extra time, the Rhinelanders defeated the Hamburg Towers with 100: 98 (91:91, 41:42) and go to the second duel on Sunday (3:00 p.m./Magenta Niners Chemnitz).
